1920s Egyptian Assuit dress. Sheer black cotton mesh dress with hand hammered brass detail. Assuits became exceedingly popular in the early 20s after the discovery of King Tut's tomb. They were traditionally made as long scarves for a girls dowry but then it became popular to make dresses and other clothing items out of them. This piece was in the typical tunic style. They were constructed with either silver alloy or brass. Excellent, beautifully aged condition.
